The reception was to show support to vulnerable children, young people and their families in Birmingham. At the ‘The Smart Money’ event I saw first-hand not only how effective early intervention services are in tackling deep rooted problems such as deprivation and neglect before they spiral out of control but also the economic benefits they bring to the public purse.

It is the lack of consideration for victims that causes some people to think that the system is broken and many to believe that it is weighted entirely in favour of the offender.
