Steve McCabe has been asking childcare providers what they think of the government’s new plans to reform childcare and they are not convinced

Three local Age Concerns charities have merged together to become Age UK Birmingham which will provide a range of services to support people over 50. The charity will offer services like exercise classes, a shopping service, benefits advice, carers and support groups and help with gardening.

TS Sherbourne is a Bournville secret just off Dell Road. This unit of the sea cadets was originally formed in 1942 and met at Sherbourne Road, off Highgate. They offer a range of activities for boys and girls aged 10-18. Opportunities include: learning to play an instrument, sailing skills, first aid and a whole range of character building activities.

Sainsbury’s have submitted a planning application for their latest plans for the former Battery Site in Selly Oak (land between Bristol Road, Harborne Lane and Aston Webb Boulevard). You can view the latest plans here: http://sellyoak-regeneration.co.uk/site-plan.php.

Birmingham City Council is interested in comments from the public, preferably before 25 April 2013.
