Bouncer regulator costing jobs
I've had to contact the agency which regulates security employees because they've been delaying with applications and costing people their jobs. The Security Industry Authority was introduced to help monitor those who work in the security industry, such as doormen and security guards, and now issues licenses employees. I've been flooded with complaints by employees who have been waiting, some for over 22 weeks, for their new licenses and even ended up loosing their jobs. The law states that doormen must renew their license every 3 years and promise to process their applications in 4-6 weeks. However, the SIA are blaming a ‘computer error’ for applications taking too long. This is utterly ridiculous. I fully support the regulation of this industry as I think in some situations it was putting the public in danger before. However, you can’t expect people to go without work for months on end, with no way of paying their rent or electricity. These people followed the rules and deserve an apology from the SIA which I will be pressing for.
