Council chief quizzed by residents

Ian Coghill, Birmingham City Council’s Director of Community Safety and Environmental Services joined residents from Birmingham Hall Green constituency to answer their concerns about litter, graffiti and waste collections.

I invited residents to the event following the ‘Brandwood Action Campaign’ with newly elected Cllr Mike Leddy (Lab, Brandwood) who joined me at the meeting. Mr Coghill was grilled on missed recycling collections, graffiti that never seems to be cleared up and fly tipping around the constituency and agreed to ensure that these problems were dealt with.

Issues such as rubbish and recycling collection, litter and graffiti are ones that affect everyone in their daily lives. After gimmicks from Conservative councillors in Brandwood clearing up graffiti themselves rather than correctly reporting it for the council to deal with, it was refreshing to have Ian Coghill join Cllr Mike Leddy and I to talk directly to residents.

Both Mike and I will be keeping in touch with Mr Coghill to ensure that issues that are reported to him do get dealt with. If anyone would like to get in touch with either myself or Cllr Leddy they can contact my office on 0121 622 4408.
