Celebrating National Childcare Week at local nursery

With parents, and manager Emma Day, at Treetops Nursery in BilleI was really pleased to visit local playgroup, Treetops Nursery in Billesley recently, to celebrate National Childcare week.

In its 12th year, Childcare Week is run by the Daycare Trust who campaign for affordable childcare across the UK. The theme for this year's Childcare week was Foundations for the Future and involved a number of events across the country. Treetops nursery held a parent workshop for local parents to stay and join in with activities alongside the children.

I had a great time getting stuck in with the arts activities that were on offer and chatted to parents as well as new manager Emma Day.

National Childcare week is a great campaign to support and I was really pleased to be able to visit Treetops Nursery. It's a great centre with lots of interesting and stimulating activities for the children to enjoy and learn from.

The Labour government has made great strides in helping parents access free or discounted childcare over the past 11 years and I'm really proud to see this at work in my constituency.

Emma Day, Manager of Treetops said: 'This was the first parent workshop I've held at the nursery and it's certainly got off to a great start. The parents even gave it 10 out of 10!'

'It was a lovely extra to our morning having our local MP Steve McCabe there and all of the staff did such a wonderful job - I am so proud of them.'
