Steve McCabe

From studying Social Work in Scotland and Bradford in the 1970s and 1980s, Steve worked with young offenders, in child protection, and lecturing in social work at North East Worcestershire College in the late 1980s.
After working in Social Services in the area for three years, in 1990 Steve was elected to Birmingham City Council. He was soon made chairman of the transport committee and won an award in 1994 for his committee’s new approach to transport management. He secured the first registration of an urban "village green".
