Steve urges businesses to take advantage of council assistance.

Steve has urged any businesses that were affected by recent public disorder in Birmingham to take ad
The programme will assist small and medium sized businesses.
 
Birmingham City Council has established a telephone number at Steve’s request to assist with any businesses which have had difficulties as a result of the disorder.
 
The Business Rates Hardship Relief Fund and the Financial Recovery Fund can provide help with business rates, financing building repairs and assistance to encourage customers to return to the affected areas.
 
This package is designed to support eligible small to medium size businesses (SMEs) that meet the following criteria:
 
  • Fewer than 250 employees worldwide
  • Turnover below £ 11.2 million per annum
  • Must be independent (or franchise)
  • Be operating in an area affected by recent disorder in Birmingham between 6-11th August 2011
  • Have suffered losses as a direct result of that disorder.

“I asked Birmingham City Council to provide an emergency helpline to assist businesses in affected areas, and I am glad that they have implemented my proposal.
 
“This is a vital scheme to assist businesses which have been affected by the recent disturbances in Birmingham. I encourage any constituents who have had their businesses affected by the disorder to make use of this important service
