Steve champions local approach to business

Steve McCabe MP, Birmingham Selly Oak, attended the All Party Retail Group (APRG) and the British Re

The reception was a chance to celebrate the work undertaken by retailers and their employees in their local areas and an opportunity to see firsthand how responsible retailers are making a real difference to their communities every day.

The event advocated the importance of big, medium and small businesses in society and their localised approach to helping their communities. It also pushed for further help for local businesses and argued the case for re-engagement between business and society.

Steve said:

“It was a very interesting event, it gave me the opportunity to speak to big businesses and talk about their approaches to community engagement.

“What I took away from the event was the need to invest and support local business. In my constituency for example, Stirchley High Street is in need of rejuvenation and I think this local, community based approach would really work in this area.

“I am certainly very glad I attended this event, it has given me some good insights that I can take away with me to my constituency.”
