Steve McCabe MP celebrates the Number 11

Steve McCabe MP (Labour, Birmingham Selly Oak) joined David Humphries onboard the historic Number 11
Whilst on board, passengers were given a history of the route and the places that the number 11 goes to. The bus route has been in operation since 1926. The celebrations were all the more relevant because last month was the anniversary of the 1911 Greater Birmingham Act. The act brought into Birmingham areas like Aston and Cotteridge. The number 11 provided, then as now, vital transport links to those living on the outskirts of an expanded Birmingham.
Steve said: “The Number 11 is a lifeline to so many of my constituents. Linking Selly Oak, Bournville, Stirchley, Brandwood and Billesley together, this particular route binds together communities throughout my constituency.
“Without the Number 11, many of my constituents would be unable to visit family and friends. I sincerely hope this route will continue on until its next big milestone and beyond”.
