Steve celebrates Christmas with local children

Steve has awarded prizes to the top three Christmas card designs, drawn by children from local schoo

Steve has been running a Christmas card competition with 13 local Junior Schools in the Selly Oak Constituency. Steve had asked the children to design a card that illustrated what Christmas meant to them.

Steve held a prize giving ceremony on Saturday 10th December at Sainsbury’s Selly Oak Store. Joanne Malin, BBC WM radio presenter, was there to present the prizes to the winner and two runners up.

Steve said:

“I really enjoyed looking through all the entries I was sent, it was definitely a difficult task choosing the winner.

“The winning design was excellent and really conveyed what Christmas is all about. The two runners up were also great, but in the end I had to make a decision.

“I really like running the Christmas card competition, it gives schools and children the chance to think about what Christmas means to them and it is also a bit of fun.”

The winning card was designed by Freya Stephenson, age 10 from Bournville Junior School. In 2nd place was Harriet Colledge, age 11 from Hollywood Primary School and 3rd place went to Luke Barbier, age 8 from St Mary’s CoE Primary School.
