More bad news for the economy
UK unemployment rose by 128,000 in the three months to October to 2.64 million, up from 2.62 million last month. Even worse were the youth unemployment figures which have risen to 1.027 million, the highest it has ever been since record began in 1992.
In the West Midlands unemployment rose to 243,000, up from 239,000. The number of people out of work and claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance rose by 3,000 to 1.6 million.
“Yet again we are hearing more bad news for the economy.
“With youth unemployment at its highest in almost 20 years, 4,000 more families affected by unemployment in the West Midlands and 3,000 more people in the dole queue the Government need to get a grip.
“Let’s face it, it’s hurting but it’s not working”
