Steve holds Minister to account on Government's 'fit to work' assesment criteria

During a Parliamentary debate on the 23rd April 2012, Steve asked Minister for Employment Rt. Hon. Chris Grayling MP how 1,100 ESA claimants who had died in the first eight months of 2011 were deemed ‘fit to work’ months earlier.

Steve also asked the Minister what steps he planned to take to investigate whether the Department’s own assessment criteria had been applied correctly in those 1,100 cases.

Responding, Mr Grayling failed to answer Steve’s question and clarify why the Department for Work and Pensions had classified so many ill people as ‘fit to work’.
