'Congratulations to Violeta for winning my Christmas Card competition, and to all those who took part!'

School children from across the Birmingham Selly Oak constituency took part in the annual competition to design Steve McCabe MP’s Christmas card.

Steve had the unenviable task of choosing the winner from the entries, which came from over 10 Primary Schools in his constituency.

The design by Violeta Naumenko, age 8, from Yardley Wood Community Primary School, was picked as the winner and Steve had the pleasure of going along to Yardley Wood School to listen to their Christmas Carol Concert and present Violeta with her prize. Violeta was presented with a family ticket to the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham.

Steve has also been busy presenting the prizes to the runners up, Joseph Quinn from St Alban’s Catholic School, and Becky Carmalt from Bournville Junior School.

Steve said:

“Congratulations to Violeta, the runners up and everybody that entered. The card with Violeta’s design, and the two runners up, has been sent to over 700 people in the constituency and around the country! I received so many great entries; it really was a difficult choice!

“I would like to thank the Lifford Business Association and Rob Grosvenor, who is the Chair, for sponsoring my Christmas card competition this year; it is great to be able to work with local businesses on projects like this and much more!”

Lifford Business Association represents over 100 local businesses from Bournville, Cotteridge, Kings Norton and Stirchley. The Association work with local businesses to encourage the community to shop local and also work with the community on issues such as crime reduction to make our high streets nicer places to visit and shop.
