Steve visits TS Sherbourne Sea Cadets

TS Sherbourne is a Bournville secret just off Dell Road. This unit of the sea cadets was originally formed in 1942 and met at Sherbourne Road, off Highgate. They offer a range of activities for boys and girls aged 10-18. Opportunities include: learning to play an instrument, sailing skills, first aid and a whole range of character building activities. The unit is staffed entirely by volunteers and the sea cadets, parents and volunteers are responsible for all year round fundraising to keep the unit afloat.

“This is a wonderful youth organisation. I was really impressed by the dedication and discipline of the young people I met. All too often we hear about problems concerning young people but TS Sherbourne Sea Cadets are a wonderful example of the kind of things many of our young people really get up to and of the wonderful contribution made by our unsung adult volunteers.”

Anyone interested in joining or helping out can contact the unit at or by phoning 0121 486 1773.
