Age UK Birmingham opens in Kings Heath

Steve McCabe MP joined Dr Peter Mayer, Chair of Age UK Birmingham, Cat Hayward, Chief Executive of Age UK Birmingham, local older people, councillors and organisations to launch the new charity set up to help older people.

Three local Age Concerns charities have merged together to become Age UK Birmingham which will provide a range of services to support people over 50. The charity will offer services like exercise classes, a shopping service, benefits advice, carers and support groups and help with gardening.

Steve McCabe said:

“Age UK is a wonderful organisation which offers a range of vital services for older people. I'm delighted that they have decided to locate to this area of South Birmingham.

“This is a time when a whole range of charities and community groups need to come together and work smarter together to help cope with the problems generated by this age of austerity and to make sure that we celebrate people living longer and take the fear out of growing old. I look forward to working with Age UK in the years ahead.”
