Job Vacancy: Constituency Assistant and Caseworker

Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) is looking for a Constituency Assistant and Caseworker to join his constituency office based in Birmingham.

Reporting to MP & Constituency Office Manager

Main Purpose of Job: Support Member in constituency duties

Salary: £20,00 per annum

Key tasks:

-          Provide advice and support to constituents & stakeholders

-          Attend some advice surgeries and other meetings in constituency with MP or to represent MP

-          Liaise with appropriate agencies to revolve matters for constituents and others

-          Stakeholder engagement

Key responsibilities:

-          Draft correspondence

-          Arrange events and visits and liaise with parliamentary based secretary re diary

-          Gather relevant information to progress or close cases

-          Manage caseload and progress casework, ensuring all cases are logged, updated and actions recorded so that all cases are dealt with in a  timely manner and MP is kept advised of any urgent or serious issues

-          Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation in dealing with casework

-          Ensure all matters are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner

-          Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports

-          Adhere to requirements of Data Protection Act

-          Assist with inventory of office equipment and supplies and make timely arrangements for ordering any necessary office supplies

-          Monitor media

-          Maintain and update constituency database of key contacts and community groups and play a role in stakeholder communication and engagement

-          Liaise with media and organise press releases and other contacts as appropriate

-          Write and prepare material for MP's website and assist with management of website and other social media activities

-          Assist with the work of other colleagues as required and communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts

-          Competent use of IT including casework management systems, Microsoft Office package, email and internet to support the above
