Steve McCabe Visits Malachi Trust’s New Community Centre

Steve McCabe MP, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak visited The Ark, Malachi Trust’s new Community Centre for Billesley & Yardley Wood.

Malachi Trust was founded in 1991 to support children affected by family breakdown. The aim of the Trust is to support children and young people affected by complex and adverse family circumstances. The Malachi Trust provides a high quality practical and therapeutic support to the whole family.

They currently have Service Level Agreements with about 90 schools across Birmingham and are working closely with a number of schools in the Billesley area. They have their own website at and Facebook page where further details of their activities can be found.

The Ark is Malachi Trust’s new Community Centre for Billesley and Yardley Wood and was funded by a Lottery Community Grant and aims to bring back the services which the community want, including Breakfast, lunch & dinner clubs, Zumba Classes, Book clubs, Play groups and much more.

Steve McCabe said “It was a pleasure to visit Malachi Trust’s new Community Centre; The Ark. I am interested in the work they want to do to support families and children in the Billesley and Yardley Wood area.

“In these austere times we need to encourage more partnership work between organisations like this and local authority services in order to take the strain off the social work services and ensure that greater levels of support are available for families and children. I’m hopeful that the change of regime within the city council may now result in a more cooperative model of working.”
