Invitation to my Report Back Event

Saturday 26 October 2013, 11.00am

Kings Heath Boys School, Chamberlain Road entrance, B13 0RJ

In the last few months we’ve heard the Government’s latest plans for the country and we now know George Osborne’s plans for public spending after 2015. We have also heard how Ed Miliband and the Labour Party will help hardworking people by proposing a freeze on energy bills, if they are voted into Government in 2015.

I thought this would be a good time to hold a Report Back event so we can discuss both national and local issues of concern. Many constituents will have received a copy of my latest constituency-wide consultation on Welfare Reform which asks some difficult questions about our benefit system. Any future government will have to make some tough decisions about this issue and I am interested to hear from my constituents about their priorities.

I hope to also share some of the findings of my consultation on the Future Funding for Elderly Care and the work I have been doing on this really important area, and also some of the issues about youth unemployment; the cost of living; energy bills; and childcare.

I know from my work in the constituency just how many people feel they are struggling and worried about their future, their children’s future and that of elderly relatives. People don’t seem to share the Government’s optimism that things are improving and I must confess I don’t see much improvement.

I’ll take about 15 minutes to give you a quick update on my activities and then throw it open to questions and comments from you. The meeting will be quite informal but it will be great if you can come along.

To book your place, please let my office know by phoning 0121 443 3878 or e-mailing me at

I hope to see you on the 26 October.
