Steve McCabe MP questions Prime Minister over local growth deal for Birmingham

Steve McCabe has questioned government ministers and the Prime Minister himself about the local growth deal for Birmingham.

The Government recently announced Greater Birmingham would receive £350 million as part of the Local Growth Fund.

Steve asked David Cameron at Prime Minister’s Questions:

“As bribes go, is offering that huge region less than £10 per head just 37 days before the general election not too little, too late?”

This confrontation with the Prime Minister came after Steve quizzed the Cabinet Office Minister, Greg Clark MP, earlier in the week. Steve asked when Birmingham will receive the money and when Selly Oak’s life sciences park will receive some of the cash, he was told there will be a cheque for £63 million in April next year.
