Steve McCabe faces Question Time from Bournville Junior School Council

Steve McCabe MP met with Bournville Junior school council representatives from Year 3 to Year 6 to answer a wide range of probing questions from his job as MP to his Parliamentary knowledge.

Bournville Junior School Council had their investigative hats on for their Q&A session with Steve, asking questions on the future plans for Selly Oak Hospital site to Anti-Social Behaviour and speeding. Steve filled the pupils in on when he was elected, working for the people of Selly Oak and his favourite thing about being an MP which is meeting with his constituents, listening to ideas and helping to resolve problems.

Some pupils decided to test Steve on his Parliamentary knowledge by asking questions on Big Ben and whether he knew who designed the Houses of Parliament. Steve told the school council that it was architects, Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin who designed the Houses of Parliament and despite working in Westminster for 17 years he has never been to the top of Big Ben but plans to do so when the school council visits.

Steve McCabe MP said:

“I was really pleased to meet with the school council who gave me a good grilling, I think it is very important that children learn from a young age about the role of MP’s and Parliament and I definitely see some future leaders in the making.”
