Steve McCabe MP goes back to school for story time

Steve McCabe MP, Birmingham Selly Oak spent his Friday afternoon reading his favourite children’s book to a group of enthusiastic Year 4 pupils from Colmore Junior School as part of their ’secret reader’ project.

Steve read an extract from one of his favourite children’s books, ‘My Granny’s Great Escape’ by Jeremy Strong, to an excited class of year four students who were very impressed by his storytelling.

After reading the story, Steve answered questions about his job as a Member of Parliament and explained to the children why reading was so important to him.

Steve was pleased to learn that some of his own favourite childhood books were still as popular as ever amongst the enthusiastic year four class!

Steve McCabe MP said:

“I think the ‘Secret Reader’ project is a fantastic idea. It was great to see the Colmore students so engaged with reading and talking so passionately about their favourite books and authors at such a young age.”
