Steve McCabe MP meets local Cadbury apprentices on National Apprenticeship week 2015

On National Apprenticeship Week, Steve McCabe MP met with local apprentices from Bournville’s Cadbury factory to find out more about the apprenticeship programme and meet the people involved.

Steve, along with Liam Bryne, Shadow Minister for Universities, Skills and Sciences visited the Bournville Cadbury factory to mark National Apprenticeship Week andto present some local apprentices with a certificate of completion. Steve and Liam also had the opportunity to meet apprentices working on the factory line and see the latest investments into the factory.

National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

National Apprenticeship Week 2015 is all about:

  • getting more small businesses to take on apprentices
  • promoting the range and breadth of apprenticeships on offer, including those at Higher level and within blue chip companies
  • celebrating apprenticeships and the level of success that learners can achieve

“It was great to meet local apprentices at the Cadbury factory. I think it’s really important that young local people have the opportunity to learn skills on the job and apprenticeships are a great way of doing this. Apprenticeships are also a fantastic way to fill skills shortages in the economy and I think that more should be done to encourage and support young people in to work through apprenticeship programmes.”
