Steve McCabe MP welcomes road safety measures outside local school

Children’s safety has been put first after Steve McCabe MP and parents of Allens Croft Primary School have pushed for safer road measures outside the school.

Steve was first contacted by concerned parents a few months ago who were worried about obstructive and dangerous parking outside the primary school during school drop off and pick up times. A number of parents felt strongly that inconsiderate parking made it difficult for young pupils of the school to cross the road safely and worried that this could put their children at risk.

After much persistence from Steve and local parents, the Council finally agreed to install 9 bollards around the school to deter inconsiderate drivers from parking on the pavements. The bollards have been put up on the corner of Dawberry Road, Waldrons Moor, the roundabout opposite the school and outside Allens Croft Children’s Centre.

Steve McCabe MP said:

“I’m pleased that road safety has been put first and the Council have finally taken action to address this problem. It’s important that parents feel assured that measures have been put in place to protect their children so that they can arrive at school and leave school safely.”
