Steve McCabe MP opens Yardley Wood Community Primary School’s new facilities

On Friday 18 September, Steve McCabe MP opened Yardley Wood Primary School’s new facilities, a two year refurbishment project in the making.

Steve met with pupils who were delighted with their new school hall, play area, kitchen and extended classrooms as part of the school’s additional primary places programme. Headteacher, Ben Turner was thrilled with the completed project and told Steve that the children were already reaping the benefits of the new facilities. Yardley Wood Community Primary School has come a long way from Special Measures in 2010 to being one of top 100 most improved schools in the UK based on the last 2 years progress and attainment.

Steve greeted children from across the school and faced some interesting questions from pupils including questions about his role as an MP and whether he had ever been to Buckingham Palace. Steve praised the staff, governors and the Headteacher for making huge strides in improving the school and said that he was proud that the school was in his constituency.

Steve McCabe MP said:

“It’s a real privilege to open Yardley Wood Primary school’s newly refurbished facilities, the results of two years of work have definitely paid off. The school has come a long way from Special Measures in 2010 to being one of the top 100 most improved schools in the UK and the new environment will only add to the continued progress of Yardley Wood Community Primary school.”
