Steve McCabe MP backs Marie Curie Right to Palliative Care calls

Steve McCabe MP is backing Marie Curie’s campaign to provide the right to palliative care for those who need it.

Steve has pledged support to the campaign which calls on the NHS and its partners to support 110,000 people across the UK each year who miss out on palliative care because their needs are not recognised and they are not referred to the right services.

One in four people across the UK do not get the care and support they need at the end of their life and with more people living longer, they are very likely to have complex care needs at the end of their lives. Currently, these needs are unmet and Marie Curie are campaigning for change at both a local and national level. Marie Curie provide care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families.

Steve McCabe MP said:

“Everyone who needs palliative care should get access to it, helping them to make the most of the time they have left which is why I am backing Marie Curie’s Right to Palliative Care campaign. With an ever ageing population this is an issue which is only likely to become more pressing and more needs to be done to ensure that those living with terminal illness and their families are supported and cared for in their final days.”
