On Wednesday 24 February, Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) moved an Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons on the future of the popular Katie Road NHS Walk-in Centre in Selly Oak.

Steve called for the debate following the news that the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group responsible for the Urgent Care in Birmingham was beginning yet another consultation on the future of the walk-in centre.

He questioned the Minister on how much public money had been spent on these consultations and if there is a limit on how much they can waste on redundant consultations. Steve also asked for assurances that the Walk-in Centre would not be moved to the A&E Department at the QE Hospital.

The Minister agreed to write to the CCG to raise these important issues but he gave no assurances about the future location of the walk-in centre and what the service will look like after the next review.
