Don't get caught out by Road Closures as Birmingham Half Marathon returns to the city Sunday 16 October

The Great Birmingham Run will return on Sunday, October 16 and is expected to attract around 20,000 runners who will take on the 13.1mile course starting on Jennens Road and eventually finishing on Broad Street. The event will result in a number of planned road closures at varying times along the route. Roads affected in Bournville and Selly Oak will include:

·         Pershore Rd – 04:00 – 15:30

·         Kensington Road – 09:30 – 12:30

·         Selly Park Road – 09:30 – 12:30

·         Dog Pool Lane – 09:30 – 14:00

·         Hazelwell Street – 04:00 – 14:00

·         Bournville Lane – 05:00 – 14:00

·         Linden Road – 09:00 – 13:00

·         Mary Vale Rd (from Linden Rd to Pershore Rd) – 05:00 – 14:00

·         Queen’s Ride – 05:00 – 14:00

·         Cannon Hill Park – 05:00 – 14:00 (Pedestrian access only)

·         Edgbaston Road – 08:30 – 14:00

“It’s fantastic to see the Birmingham Half Marathon now in its 9th year. This one-day event attracts runners from around the world and the route takes in some of the city's most iconic sights including Cadbury World in Bournville.

“Like any event of this scale an awful lot of planning has gone into it and I’m sure every effort has been taken to minimise disruption to those living along the route. However I would urge anyone travelling on the day to plan ahead and to check if the road closures are likely to affect them. I would also like to wish the very best of luck to everyone running this year.”
