Steve McCabe  met with the new President of Kraft Foods UK, Maurizio Brusadelli, to discuss developments in the company and the role of Bournville in long term plans.


UK Feminista, a movement of ordinary men and women campaigning for gender equality, turned out in force on Wednesday 24 October to lobby MP’s on several issues.The great-granddaughter of Suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst branded parliament “an old boys’ club” as she led a feminist march of hundreds of women and men to lobby MPs on women’s equality.


Steve McCabe MP joined meningitis victims, celebrities Lisa Snowdon, Ian Rush MBE, Joanna Trollope and Ken Loach and health and teaching professionals in the House of Commons this week to fight back against meningitis as part of the Meningitis Trust’s Meningitis Changes Futures campaign.


Steve McCabe joined families of missing people to pledge their support  for the charity Missing People’s Missing Rights campaign which is seeking legislative support for families fighting the bureaucracy and heartache of resolving or managing a missing loved one’s affairs.

Steve joined staff and students from Cherry Oak School, in Selly Oak, this month to open their recently built outdoor adventure playground.


The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the culmination of years of fundraising to turn the patch of land into a multi-use, all weather playground.


Parents and representatives of the local community were also present whilst pupils played samba music and celebrated the harvest festival.

Steve McCabe is taking the pledge to encourage people throughout the area to give time to benefit the local community, after joining Music Producer, Pete Waterman in the build up to CSV Make a Difference Day, the biggest single day of volunteering on Saturday 27 October 2012.


Pete Waterman has given MPs across the nation a ‘pledge kit’ with a host of ideas to benefit others, such as sharing their career skills with local community clubs, groups and small charities.



Steve McCabe has criticised the Home Secretary for diluting measures to tackle anti-social behaviour without a plan to replace them.

The latest official figures show that the number of ASBOs issued in the West Midlands has fallen each year since the Government took office.



Steve McCabe is joining Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson in calling for nominations to the vInspired National Awards, the country’s largest celebration of young volunteers.



British Gas; E.On; Scottish Power; Co-operative Energy; Carillion; Ebico; Home Heat Helpline; Energy Helpline; uSwitch; Squashed Bills; National Energy Action; Waterloo Housing; Freshwinds and Citizens Advice Bureau gave constituents advice and support on saving energy and money throughout the day.



Last month, the Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker MP, wrote to Steve to inform him that London Midland had submitted a proposal to the Department for Transport to amend the opening hours of railway station ticket offices across the country.


The Department for Transport subsequently approved their proposals; resulting in a loss of an enormous 93 hours of service per week across Selly Oak, Bournville and Kings Norton rail stations (which are situated within the boundary of the Birmingham Selly Oak constituency).
