The Planning Committee deferred the application for outline planning permission on 5th September 2013 and it is due back at committee on Thursday 17 October.


The Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of eye health and the need for everyone to have sight checks every two years to look after their eyes.


Someone goes blind somewhere in the world every 5 seconds and every 24 hours over 100 people in the UK begin to lose their sight.



Over the last 10 years wear it pink has raised a staggering £23 million and on Friday 25October 2013 people will come together in schools, colleges and businesses throughout the country to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Campaign’s lifesaving research.


Steve McCabe MP, Birmingham Selly Oak, has criticised the Chancellor for claiming the economy is in recovery after figures released by the Office for National Statistics shows unemployment rose in the West Midlands to 9.8%, well above the national average.


Steve’s survey revealed that over 80% of constituents who responded were in favour of the Life Sciences Park and that overall (69%) people were in favour of the proposals.

However, concerns were raised over 4 points:



The consultation was carried out following continuing uncertainty about the future of NHS Walk-In Centres in Birmingham. 


Kings Heath Cricket & Sports Club will use the funding to refurbish the squash courts on site which were built some 30 years ago. The funding will help a major refurbishment of the changing facilities and other essential repairs to the walls, floors and roof.


Another 320 sports projects across the country will also be celebrating winning a share of £16,255,446 which will help bring big improvements to local facilities, from new playing surfaces to floodlights and better changing rooms.


Steve McCabe MP, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak has slammed the widespread use of zero-hour contracts. The employment contracts, under which staff are not guaranteed work from one week to the next, are becoming increasingly common.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has said that the survey of 1,000 employers that it carried out showed that one in five people who are employed are on zero-hours contracts.

Mr McCabe pointed out that we are on course for the slowest recovery in over 100 years and that so far the Chancellor’s only achievement has been to get us back to almost where we were when he entered government in 2010.

The USA which has pursued the policies which George Osborne abandoned has achieved growth three times greater than the UK over the same period and the Chancellor is on target to borrow more over the life of this parliament than Labour managed to borrow over its entire period between 1997-2010.
