Steve McCabe MP has discovered that Selly Oak is set to have more student accommodation than family homes over the next year.

Steve recently pressed the Council on the current level of student accommodation in Selly Oak and approved developments that are due to be built within the next year.

Steve McCabe MP has criticised the lack of enforcement action taken by the Council against developers who continue to breach planning law.

Steve McCabe MP is encouraging well deserving charities and community groups across his constituency to take part in an exciting £2000 give away.

Building equipment suppliers Actavo Direct are searching the nation for a community project to donate £2000 worth of equipment, labour or building materials to.

 

Steve has met with the Schools Minister Nick Gibb MP and demanded the full facts about the school’s finances and the role of the Education funding Agency and the Regional Schools Commissioner. Steve is working closely with local Brandwood Councillors and Save Our Baverstock Association to campaign to save the school.

 

 

Severn Trent have told Steve that they believe the water pipe was damaged by a third party and their teams have been on site working hard to isolate the leak and identify what repairs are required. Severn Trent have informed Steve this afternoon that they have now isolated the leak and the repairs are being carried out today and the flooding has now cleared.

 

 
Since July 2015 travellers have moved on to the Stirchley site, next to Hunts Road, on four separate occasions. Each time the area is blighted by dumped rubbish, green waste and anti-social behaviour. Local residents have told Steve that they are scared to walk their dogs in the park as they feel intimidated.

Last week parents, carers and students were shocked to find out that Trustees of the LEAP Academy Trust who are responsible for Baverstock Academy, in Druids Heath, are seeking permission from the Secretary of State to close the school.

 

The 9th Annual Veterans Day hosted by Steve McCabe MP saw Veterans and students come together to talk about passed conflicts and remember those who gave their lives in the Battle of the Somme.

 

100 years has passed since the Battle of the Somme fought between 1 July and 18 November 1916. Over a million British, French and German Soldiers Died. 1 July 1916 remains the bloodiest day in British military history which saw 57,470 casualties and almost 20,000 of whom were killed.
