Steve McCabe MP has joined United Kingdom Homecare Association Ltd (UKHCA) in their calls for improvements to dementia care at home.

Steve and the UKCHA are highlighting the importance of quality, choice and control in dementia care to enable people with dementia to live well at home, in the environment of their choice, for as long as possible.

As part of Steve McCabe MP’s local campaign to remain in the EU, he has carried out a consultation across his constituency to hear the views of over 40,000 local people in the run up to the EU Referendum. 71% of constituents who responded told Steve they want to Remain in the EU.

Steve McCabe MP has called on local schools to take on young people as apprentices, in a number of positions ranging from Teaching Assistants, Business Administration and PE and School Sports support. The One By 2020 campaign, led by National Schools Training (NST), is calling on every school in the country to take on an apprentice by 2020.

Former Shadow Minster for Children and Families, Steve McCabe MP is backing Foster care Fortnight (16-29 May) the UK’s biggest foster care awareness raising campaign.

Steve is backing the campaign organised by leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network. Foster Care fortnight showcases the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers across the country.

Steve McCabe MP has joined campaigners from leading charity Alzheimer’s Society for Dementia Awareness Week. The week long campaign is taking place from 15th21st May and is seeking to increase understanding of dementia amongst the general public. It’s also hoped that the national campaign will raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Society’s services and how people can help and support those affected by dementia.

Steve McCabe MP is backing an awareness campaign on Sepsis, attended a life threatening and relatively unknown condition, which claims the lives of 44,000 people including 1,000 children every year in the UK. 

Steve has joined up with UK Sepsis Trust in calls for both public and healthcare professionals to be more aware of this silent killer. They are calling for the Department of Health to commit to a public awareness campaign, aimed at both adults and children solely on sepsis.

Steve McCabe MP has welcomed the first fuel banks opening in Birmingham which will help some of the most vulnerable people in communities across the city.
