The main issue on everyone’s minds was the Sainsbury’s proposals for the Selly Oak Battery Site, which has been derelict for many years now. There were particular concerns regarding the road network: especially the problems at the existing Sainsbury’s store and the risk of rat running along Gibbins Road caused by the potential new development.

In National Heart Month, the BHF encourages people across the UK to think about their own hearts and the hearts of those around them. The nation’s heart charity also needs people across the UK to get involved with National Wear Red Day, and raise vital funds for the charity’s life-saving work.

 

The unemployment rate for the country was 8.4% in the three months to December 2011, up 0.1% from the three months to September 2011. The number of unemployed people was 2.67 million, up 48,000.

 

I am particularly concerned about the increase in unemployment and the prospect of a generation of young people being written off with no hope for the future.
