Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak, Steve McCabe, has offered his support to heart disease and stroke patients living in his constituency.

More than 10, 000 people in Birmingham Selly Oak constituency are living with cardiovascular disease and Steve recently met with health experts to discuss problems faced by those with a cardiovascular condition.

Steve McCabe, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak, is supporting calls for energy market action, as shocking figures reveal people in Selly Oak are over-paying £6, 040, 000 a year on their energy bills, meaning £255 per household.

 

An inquiry by the Competition and Markets Authority has found that energy customers were paying on average £1.4 billion a year more than would be the case in a competitive market.

 

Steve McCabe, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Selly Oak, welcomed apprentices from some of Britain’s leading aerospace, defence, security and space companies to the House of Commons last week.

Birmingham MP, Steve McCabe (Birmingham Selly Oak) has today tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in the House of Commons calling for action to tackle the persistent problem of unauthorised traveller encampments blighting his constituency and South Birmingham.

Steve McCabe MP is supporting this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, a campaign run by the charity The Reading Agency. 
 
This year the theme is Animal Agents and children are encouraged to borrow and read books in order to help a detective agency of fury friends solve a mystery. To get involved in the Summer Reading Challenge all you need to do is take your child to your local library where they will receive an Animal Agents collector pack and can borrow a variety of exciting books.

 

The Queen delivered her speech in the House of Lords with a heavy emphasis on Brexit, outlining 8 Bills including the Repeal Bill which will repeal the European Communities Act 1972.

 

Other measures announced included an Automated and electric Vehicles Bill, HS2 Bill to extend High Speed Rail from Birmingham to Crewe and a draft Tenant’s Fee’s Bill, a Labour policy that prevents landlords and estate agents from charging big fees to tenants.

 

The ruling was made using the controversial FOI Section 36 exemption which is known as the “Get Out of Jail Free” card which public authorities use when they want to withhold information and no other suitable exemption can be applied.

Steve McCabe, MP for Birmingham Selly Oak, will launch his local campaign – Healthy Smiles for Birmingham – today (27th April), alongside Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary Jon Ashworth, to end the scandal of escalating child hospital tooth extractions in Birmingham.

 

This Parkinson’s Awareness Week, Steve McCabeMP has pledged his support to Parkinson’s UK’s We Won’t Wait campaign. The campaign calls for urgent action to unlock the promise of research developments that could pave the way for better treatments and drugs to treat Parkinson’s. 

 

Research released by the charity revealed that despite being an incurable, degenerative condition which can affect anyone, in the West Midlands:

 

Steve McCabe MP, is asking constituents to sign a letter to Secretary of State for Education Justine Greening calling for a review of the Government’s proposed National Funding Formula for schools, which will see local schools face big cuts to their budgets.
