Steve McCabe MP hosted one of his regular report back events at Selly Oak Methodist Church on Wednesday 27 August, where he talked about the work he has been doing over the summer period, this was followed by a lively question and answer session which was dominated by Council issues.  

Steve McCabe MP recently got behind Selly Oak’s Sainsbury’s local food counter to learn more about preparing food and serving local customers.

Steve was welcomed by Tom Bathurst, counters Team Leader at the deli, pizza and meat/fish counters. During his time on the job they covered the importance of safety and hygiene while preparing food as well as getting a few tips from trained colleagues on how to make an in store pizza.

Stirchley’s very own Masalla Merchant was presented with an award from Selly Oak MP, Steve McCabe and Councillor Phil Walkling for being highly commended by the judges of Parliament’s annual Tiffin Cup competition.

Steve McCabe MP is urging people in need of respite care to take advantage of Kingswood Drive bungalows before any final decisions are made about the service in March 2015.

Nearly 80 local residents filed into the Elim Church Centre in Exeter Road, Selly Oak, last Thursday night, for the latest round of discussions on the Katie Road NHS Walk in Centre. The saga has been ongoing for nearly 18 months now since local MP Steve McCabe discovered that the Cross City Clinical Commissioning Group and the Health and Well Being Board were engaged in discussions which cast a doubt over the future of this popular and extremely well used health facility.

Steve McCabe MP is inviting local residents to a meeting at Elim Church, Selly Oak on Thursday 10 July at 7.15pm with NHS CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group representatives to have their say in the city wide urgent care review pre-consultation and find out what the CCG’s plans are for Katie Road Walk-In Centre.

Selly Oak Year 11 Students give the official World Cup song a run for its money with their very own World Cup song. Recorded in June 2014 for charity, the talented students performed all drums, percussion and vocals to create a very catchy tune to cheer the England Team on and capture World Cup fever.

Birmingham’s Health for Life in primary schools programme has celebrated the opening of a ‘green gym’ and fruit orchard with Steve McCabe MP for Selly Oak and employee volunteers from Mondelēz International and programme partners, The Conservation Volunteers (TCV).  

Steve McCabe MP has praised the introduction of a brand new local IT Hub designed to help young people in Birmingham improve their IT skills.

This Carers Week, Steve McCabe MP has called for Birmingham City Council to be open and honest about their plans for Kingswood Drive Bungalows, a local service that offers respite for carers.
